Today is the day to ski! Mild temps at 45 degrees, the wind is dying down throughout the day, and 40km are groomed including Pt Mariah, Razorback, and Nosdive! The surface should hold up well and be firm most of the day given the freezing temperatures overnight. There is a lot of flowing water on the trails, so use caution. That said Bogus Basin trails are skiing SO GOOD. Get over there if you can.

We conducted trail assessments yesterday, 3/6, and unfortunately the overnight freezing temperatures did nothing to arrest the flow of water on many of our trails. The Northwest trail complex of Mirkwood, Yuba, Emigrant and Wells Fargo cannot open without significant snowfall.

Van Norden remains closed due to running water. We are looking at all possible alternatives to get into or across the meadow, but flowing and standing water are making that difficult.

Four pictures attached show the amazing conditions on Razorback, the depth of the Yuba at our typical crossing point, and the condition of some unopened trails. What a dichotomy of conditions!

Skate/Downhill clinic this Saturday with Martin Benes!

Royal Gorge has amazing downhill terrain. But if you don’t know how to ski it, it can feel like a chore. Get better at picking your line, slowing down, making turns, and carrying speed.
