The weather has felt more like we are in mid-October rather than mid-December. Trails in Bellevue & Hailey have been overall in great shape for all your fall activities, though muddy sections can certainly be found in areas that don’t see much sun this time of year. Mid-valley and north-valley trails fluctuate between frozen and muddy, making timing important for getting out. Ideally, we will move past this endless fall with this week’s forecast promising a shift towards winter for our valley. Hopefully we will get enough snow to turn on skiing in our valley and finally bid farewell to our dirt trails. If you are heading out to sneak in the last bits of your time on dirt- please pay attention to conditions and temps. If you encounter extended muddy section where you are leaving footprints or tire tracks, please turn back. Pack extra layers, a headlamp for morning and afternoon adventures, and stay warm & safe while you enjoy the trails! Wildlife- With cooler temperatures and (hopefully) more snow moving in, wildlife will be moving down into the valley meaning there is a higher potential for encountering wildlife on the trails. Stay aware of your surroundings and if you recreate with dogs, keep them close. |
