Monday, February 10th. 7:45am
The dawn of a new week reveals a stunning morning in the mountains. Snow-laden peaks and white-clad forests are frozen against a still sky. There is an arctic quality to it all; the pillowy white landscape extends in all directions while a rosy glow is fading to blue overhead. Don your full suite of warm layers, wax your skis for cold snow, and revel in this swoon worthy day in the high Cascades.

The morning air temperature is 6*F and headed for an eventual high of 22*F. Sunshine and near-windless conditions make the cold more manageable. The snow temperature, meanwhile, measures -16C / 3*F. The fresh packed powder base took a nice set during the night and the skiing this morning is squeaky, slightly soft, and stable. Glide will increase as the sun rises and both skate and classic skiing will be excellent choices today. The Nordic network is 100% groomed for skate and classic skiing. Every last inch of the trail system was traversed by the snowcat and freshly prepped for this ski day. The snowshoe trail roster is fully open as well and Yellow, Orange, and Red Trail are all in great shape thanks to the recent snowfall followed up by several rounds of packing. Be aware that the heavy snow loads may start to shed from the trees as the temperature warms up today.

We anticipate a fairly quiet day at the Nordic Center, but we'll keep the fire in the wood stove roasting all day long. The Nordic Cafe is busy prepping pastries to pair with our new espresso menu, and of course the full spread of burritos, quesadillas, soups, chilis, snacks, and more will be available from 9am - 3pm. Warm up and refuel in the lodge between laps on the trails. Happy Monday!
