March 6^th Grooming Report

Spa Day!

The Husky is scheduled for a luxury spa treatment today to deal with some leaky veins, specifically a diesel fuel drip which doesn’t do anything for fuel economy, not to mention, nobody wants off-road red diesel tinted snow to ski on.  While the drip is minimal, it does need to be addressed.  Hopefully the situation can be easily remedied today. 

Never fear, Husky grooming did happen last night with pretty favorable results.  A somewhat abbreviated grooming session did manage to cover the Close Field, Nordic X, Moose Poop, Homeward and Outward Bound, Moose Loop, Armin’s, Homesite, Black Hole, Boiler, Olympic, and Animal Farm.  The pass was about half skate only and half skate/classic as it has become more challenging to place classic tracks.  The East Fields have developed some big melted out holes and will need a substantial dump to return to grooming this year.  However what we can groom has been skiing nicely, be sure to enjoy.

The picture above is from the Jackson Hole Land Trust’s visit earlier in the week, thanks for being supporters of JHSC Nordic and Trail Creek!  The image below brings back some fond memories of colder January snow with the happy Teewinots.  As of report time registration is still open for the Yellowstone Rendezvous event tomorrow in West Yellowstone, MT.  Coach Luna and crew are now in Wisconsin, hopefully enjoying a little cheese and having a great time skiing at the Junior Nationals, they have some great webcams which you can view here if your Friday is dragging.  Look for potential evening grooming in the days ahead, depending on temperatures and snowfall.

Groomer’s choice today is a long tour on the fresh dusting of snow.
