Hope everyone is taking advantage of the long summer days and getting in some big trail adventures! As temperatures rise, many of us start heading north in search of higher elevations and cooler, shaded trails.

Most trails are open and clear, though snow is still lingering in some higher, forested areas. For reference, a trail user reported last week that Prairie Creek is clear to within the last half mile, where snow is still covering portions of the trail.

More sheep are moving into the valley, so please keep an eye out for signs of sheep activity while you're on the trails. If you're recreating with dogs, be sure to keep them close and under control.

All Galena Summer trails are open, except those within the wildlife closure areas. Closures on sections of Big Wood, Crosscut, Spring Creek, Outhouse, and Grinder will be lifted on Friday, June 26. Wildlife closures on Bald Mountain trails will be lifted on July 1.

Sheep

Forest Service reports-

Deer Creek Band: This band is grazing in the North Fork of Deer Creek. They will graze northwest towards Sullivan Creek. (Trails 331, 157, 152)

Warm Springs Band: This band will trail into Wolftone over the next few days. They will graze into Panther creek and up over into the upper end of Greenhorn Creek sometime next week. (Trails 156, 931)

Baker Creek Band: This band will be trucked into the Rooks Creek/Thompson Creek area in Warm Springs. They will graze north Towards Fox Peak. (Trails 145, 142)

Limekiln Band: This band is near the upper end of Limekiln. They will graze west towards Cow Creek. (Trail 180)

Lake Creek Band: This band is near the bottom of Lake Creek grazing on BLM lands near Sun Peak. They will graze up Lake Creek over the next several weeks.

Corral Creek Band: This band is in Wilson Creek. They will graze towards the mouth of Corral Creek.

Cove Creek Band: Expected to be near Cove Creek 06/26.

NOTES & REMINDERS:

SNRA Head Quarters will be open weekdays 8:30-4:30 June 15 -September 7th.

Fox Creek (KRD & WRTC)

Helicopter fly date: week of July 13-17 (previously June 29th), exact day TBA. Forest Service will fly the bridge in and close the drainage down. This will be a hard closure.
Work is occurring in the construction zone. Please be aware of equipment on the trail and be patient when encountering crews. Give the crews a wide berth, make eye contact with equipment operators, and follow their instructions when passing.
There will be other short-term impacts to the trail system and access, throughout the summer. Please be adaptable when in the area; your intended route may need to change.

Baldy (Sun Valley Company)

Closures for lift construction: All of River Run Drainage, including all roads and trails (River Run Trail, Pale Rider, Traverse Trail, French Connection, Roundhouse Connector, and Mindbender). Broadway, Saddle Up, and Lupine trails will be closed for the whole season. Please respect these closures for your and crew safety.

Elk calving closures-

Bald Mountain: Cold Springs Trail and upper Warm Springs Trail. Closure through July 1st.
Galena: Portions of Grinder Trail, Spring Creek, Big Wood, and Crosscut. Closure through June 25th
