And that's it we are closed for the season! We opened on November 19th so that makes 145 days of skiing this year. There's still 55" of snow at the Bear Basin Snotel but tree debris has already covered many trails so it's time to close.

However! Although grooming has stopped you will still find clean trails and crust skiing out in Bear Basin proper along Lyle's and Scott's.

Bear Basin Nordic Center is a program of Payette Lakes Ski Club and as director I am a full time winter employee. But I rely on a whole bunch of community support including:

Ed Roper who despite "retiring" from grooming last year still puts in many many hours on the trails.

John Foster had just a couple of grooms under his belt when he was thrown into it full time and more covering for me when I had a family emergency.

Doug Looney who on any day is either skiing or grooming or both.

Dustin Ames from Jug Mt Ranch drove our snowcat in some of the biggest storms of the year.

Jared Alexander and Randy Acker who jumped in to clear so many downed trees after the biggest of those storms.

And the passholders and donors who support Bear Basin and make it the best place to be all winter... thanks you all.

Simon Ingham, Director - Bear Basin Nordic Center
